Telluride, Colorado is unarguably one of the beautiful places on earth. In the summer, this Colorado vacation paradise features a lush, green valley separated from gorgeous blue skies by the majestic Rocky Mountains. In the winter, Telluride offers some of the finest Colorado hotels and lodging for a winter fun getaway.

When people think of Colorado vacations, the first thing that comes to mind is skiing, but Colorado has much more to offer to the vacationer than just the slopes. Telluride is an excellent example of all that Colorado has to offer during any season of the year. When the winter snows melt, they make way for a beautiful array of vegetation and a flower display that is out of this world. The Colorado vacationer can explore this beauty in several ways.

Golfers can enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Telluride with a day, or a week, on the Telluride Golf Course. This par 70 course is 9,500 feet above sea level and offers 18 challenging holes. For those who are not familiar with high altitude golfing, it will offer a unique experience. High altitudes create less air resistance, allowing the golf ball to fly up to a 15% longer distance. Aside from a better game, the course offers instructions, clinics, and an excellent full service Pro Shop.

For the hiker, Telluride offers challenging trails that take you to the top of the Rocky Mountains. They have trails for novices and experts alike. Some of the most challenging trails offer the most stunning views. For the mountaineer, See Forever Trail climbs to 11.890 feet above sea level. It might be a bit difficult to get there, but the view from the top is worth the effort. There is nowhere else like it on earth.

Not a golf fan? Hiking not for you? Not a problem, Telluride has something for you too. Mountain Village offers world-class lodging and some of the finest Colorado hotels in the resort region. These lodging choices give the area a unique Alpine European ambience and many opportunities for fine dining experiences. Among some of the favorites is Hope Garden, located slope side at the base of the Village Express. Hop Garden offers a selection of microbrewery and specialty craft beers from around the world. They offer a casual dining faire. Alfred’s restaurant is another favorite, offering an award winning wine list and contemporary American cuisine. Crazy Elk Pizza offers the best hand-tossed pizza in the valley. Telluride has much to offer in the way of dining experiences.

Telluride has number of events and activities throughout the year. They offer Eco Adventures for the whole family, live music through their summer concert series, a unique spa that celebrates the beauty of the terrain, a Mountain Film Festival, Bluegrass Festival, A Blues and Brews Festival and many more throughout the year. In addition, many hotels offer deep discounts at various times of the year, making a Colorado vacation a good value for a family experience, everyone will enjoy whether it is winter or summer.
