Although many people wouldn’t think of Ottawa as an interesting place to travel to, it really has a great many things to see in Ottawa.

There are so many things to see in Ottawa. It is a city rich in architecture, museums, history, is full of Canadian culture and is home to many sporting activities.  If you are interested in a vacation that is more than just sitting around on the beach, Ottawa is definitely a place to put on your list of experiences.

Ottawa is Canada’s capital city and is the fourth largest city in the country.  The population is approximately 859,704 (from 2005 figures).  It is located in the province of Ontario on the banks of the Ottawa River, 400 kilometres (250 miles) north-east of Toronto and 190 kilometres (120 miles) west of Montreal.

Ottawa is where the country’s federal government sits.  Ottawa has a significant Francophone population and by city government policy, all municipal services are available in French and English.

Things to see in Ottawa

Winterlude in OttawaAs said, some of the things to see in Ottawa are the large number of national museums, official residences, government buildings, memorials and heritage structures.  Some of the museums/sites worth mentioning are: The Canadian War Museum, The National Gallery of Canada, The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, The Canada Science and Technology Museum, The Canada Aviation Museum and The Royal Canadian Mint.  All are informative, interesting and should appeal to every traveller.

One of the things to see in Ottawa is Parliament Hill on Canada Day, July 1st, where many activities take place, including street parties, live music, performing and athletic shows, an air show performing aerial manoeuvres over Parliament Hill, the RCMP Musical Ride, and a major fireworks event.  There are children’s activities from face painting and crafts to poster competitions, as well as cooking demonstrations, art shows and comedy reviews.  It is a fun grand event that is well worth attending.

Calgary Stampede

July 9, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

calgary stampedeWell the Calgary Stampede starts today. Most people I would guess have heard of the Calgary Stampede but as a person that has lived in Calgary for 12 years I can tell you that the Stampede is the social and summer highlight in Calgary and most people in this city would agree that it is the event that makes Calgary most famous.

The Calgary Stampede is on this year from July 9th to the 18th and is an all day and evening event from start to finish. There are rides for the kids, there is a special indoor playground and crafts area free for kids and of course all the horses, cows, goats, and pigs that the kids can usually pet and have pictures taken with.

Calgary stampede History

The Calgary Stampede is a celebration of the farming and ranching culture of Alberta and because of this the city turns into Urban cowboys with cowboy boots and cowboy hats for two weeks. For adults there are lots of bands, both rock and country, at the Calgary Stampede itself as well as at all of the bars around town. So not only is there events at the stampede for kids but for adults as well.

The highlight of the Calgary Stampede has to be the rodeo. There is an afternoon session of the rodeo as well as a night session. The night session has the famous Chuck wagon races as well as lots of entertainment and is a highlight although it may be a bit long and late for the little kids. The afternoon rodeo is great for kids and they get to see bucking broncos, horses, and lassoing cows.

If it is too late for you to attend the Calgary Stamped this year then you should definitely make plans for next year to attend. The Calgary Stampede is billed as the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth and it really is.

Family Beach Vacation Ideas

April 8, 2010 by admin Leave a Comment

Nothing in the world beats a family beach vacation, whether it’s at a deluxe resort in Hawaii, and all-inclusive vacation spot in the Caribbean or a simple campground on a sandy beach near your home town. Some lifestyle management agencies like Twice take care of everything for you, below, are some ideas you might consider for your next vacation.

Caribbean Beach Vacations

1.  Families flock to Jamaica and the Dominican Republic for the all-inclusive vacation filled with all kinds of water sports, kids clubs and, of course, great beaches.

2.  At some resorts the kids programs are outstanding, with separate leaders and activities for many different age groups.  This allows parents the freedom to enjoy their own beach time separately from their kids.and don’t forget about all the many options that you can find at trisara.com/suites-villas/ as well.

3.  The majority of hotels in the Caribbean also offer spectacular swimming pools, and some resorts even have water parks, you also have the option of going to Oregon’s most popular hotel-casino resort, which is a great resort for all family members.

4.  The prices can be low to high, depending on the resort rating and the time you travel.  Prices will drop from May to December, but if you book at the last minute you are sure to find a great deal somewhere.  Be aware that hurricane season is in the May – December months as well, but most resorts offer weather guarantees.

Mexico Beach Vacation

Even though many tourists zip down to Mexico and do their own thing at a condo or small hotel, beach vacations at all-inclusive resorts are still the best way to go for families.  All-inclusive means all-inclusive, with your plane fare, shuttle to-and-from the airport, meals, snacks, drinks and activities all included in one price. When you are having a party that you want to be wild, a male stripper may be the right choice for you. Male strippers can make any party more interesting for any woman. You can really stir up some fun when you rent one of these performers. It may be hard to decide when is the time to rent one and when you should not. Most of the time when you have any party with single women that wants to have a great time, a male stripper is appropriate. Bachelorette parties are the perfect occasion to have a male stripper. When a woman is getting married she will defiantly appreciate the last night of freedom and fun. Another great occasion is for a woman’s birthday party. When a woman reaches a certain age they will enjoy a night out with at club with where male strippers perform. You can get more information about MELBOURNE’S MALE STRIP CLUB IN STYLE click here barenights.com.au/packages/.

The Riviera Maya, which offer the best of Mexico’s beaches, is an hour south of Cancun.  It is reputed to have the second largest barrier reef in the world.  It also has many activities for families to explore outside of the resort.  You can rent a car, hire a taxi, or even take a public bus.

Hawaii Beach Vacation

When you go to Hawaii, you shouldn’t expect to find all inclusive resorts in the Aloha state. Hawaii is known for lush luxury resorts, such as the Grand Wailea on Maui, or the properties on the Big Island’s Kohala Coast.

To find more affordable options in Hawaii, the Waikiki Beach area is breathtaking, fun for the entire family, and offers several different lodging options.

Beach Camping

Of course, the above are beach vacations that you have to travel a far distance to.  If you don’t have the possibility of getting one of the Myrtle Beach vacation rentals can also enjoy the beaches in your own area.  Beach camping is a great way to spend a low-budget beach vacation for the whole family.  You simply have to take your tent and camping equipment and enjoy the great outdoors.

With plenty of options available to you and your family, vacation ideas on the beach are always something to look forward to.  There are many beaches out there. All you have to do is find the one that fits your needs – and your budget.
