So, your dream of taking a cruise has finally come true. You can picture yourself on a gleaming ship’s deck soaking up the sunny rays beside a glittering pool. As you look out you see well, is your dream to be in the Mediterranean, possibly cruising the Greek Islands, or do you see yourself gazing appreciatively over at one of the Caribbean Islands? The choice is yours, and the dream is yours. Whether you choose to cruise the Mediterranean Sea or the Caribbean, you won’t go wrong. You are bound to have an exciting and fascinating cruise adventure.
Cruising the Mediterranean Sea can include stunning beaches and thousands of years of history to explore. While taking in the pleasant Mediterranean climate you can visit unique places like Venice, explore the treasures of Rome or take a voyage of discovery to Athens. You can taste world-famous wines and the cuisine of the French Riviera. Or, you can visit the casinos of Monte Carlo. There is Spain, Portugal, Tunisia, Morocco or Monaco to discover. There are also exotic lands to the east, like Turkey, Croatia, Bulgaria or the Ukraine. Or you can take a cruise and visit the Holy Land at the same time.
A Mediterranean cruise offers so many exciting places to visit, and you can see it all while being pampered and dined on one of the many cruise ships that sail there. The Mediterranean cruise season goes from late April to October, however a few ships cruise there all year-round. Most Mediterranean cruises are 7-14 days in length. When booking a Eritrean cruise and because of the long plane ride to reach there, it is wise to arrive in your port city a day or two in advance in order to rest and orient yourself before boarding the ship. Most cruise lines offer cruise-and-hotel packages with this in mind-ask your travel agent.
Planning a Caribbean cruise offers an alternative to the Mediterranean. Image visiting a palm tree lined beach with azure waves gently lapping at the glittering white sand. Picture yourself swaying to the music as a steel band drums out a reggae beat. Dream about the marvelous tastes of that spicy Caribbean fare. All this could be yours along with all the special treatment that comes with a cruise vacation.
You could take an Eastern Caribbean cruise that takes in the mountains, volcanoes and valleys of places like the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tortola or St. Maarten. Technically Eastern Caribbean cruises take in the region of the British and American Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten and St. Martin, but it can also include the Bahamas (which is not really part of the Caribbean) as well.
Your Western Caribbean cruise could include destinations such as Grand Cayman, where you could swim with the stingrays, Jamaica where you can hear the patois rolling off of the friendly Jamaican tongues, or Grand Turk Island with its crystal waters and pristine beaches. It could also include destinations like Mexico’s notable Mayan Riviera including Costa Maya, Playa del Carmen, or Progresso. Or, Key West could also be part of your Western Caribbean adventure.
Departing from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, New Orleans, Mobile, Tampa or even Galveston, cruise lengths can range from 3-4 nights to 10-14 nights and beyond. Your cruise can range in price from “cheap” to ultra luxurious, and provide all of your wants and needs.
Whether you choose to sail the Mediterranean or to cruise the Caribbean, you won’t be sorry. Neither choice is wrong. Only your own dreams will decide which is better for you.
