New York City for Families
New York City for Families
Many people forget that New York is a city full of families and plan their vacations without giving much importance to the entertainment possibilities that abound for children in the city of New York. It only makes sense that with so many families living in this city that would not be very many family oriented things to do and places to visit.

For example, there are 5 zoos in New York City, some of them better known than others. Five zoos are Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, Bronx Zoo and the Staten Island Zoo. Each venue has something a little different to offer than the others and if you have a true animal lover in your family is really nothing wrong with coming to them. Also, if you buy the New York Pass you will find that most zoos offer free admission above the cardholder.

New York City for Families – Theatre

For the child who loves the theater, New York offers many theatrical productions that can adapt to him or her just fine. The first is aimed at girls and American Girl Place. You can enjoy restaurants, shops, theater and at the same time spend a day with his special girl. This is a great bonding experience for mothers and daughters. Children’s Theatre Manhattan produces several high quality programs for children and families throughout the year at reasonable prices (Season tickets are also available for those who live nearby). The New Victory Theater offers a different kind of cinema experience for the whole family. Players of the paper bag is a must see experience. They offer a different kind of theater for children that encourages public participation to get their children involved in the dramatic process. If you have time you should also check out TADA! Youth Theatre to show their children that even children have talents that need to be explored and can make a difference not only in their own lives but also the lives of others.

Besides the great activities mentioned above, there are several children’s museums in New York, and other museums offer exhibitions that may be of interest to their children. The museums are well worth watching even if you decide to seek entertainment elsewhere: Brooklyn Children s Museum, the Staten Island Children’s, Children s Museum of Manhattan, FDNY Fire Zone , the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, New York Hall of Science, Sony Wonder Technology Lab, Queens Museum of Country setting, and Ripley’s Believe it or not! Times Square. There are many museums in the city that can offer plenty of family entertainment and education, but these are some of the most enjoyable museum for children in the city.

New York City for Families – Shopping

Shopping is a fun and often educational process that is often overlooked or even ignored when it comes to children. However, I would be remiss to mention great family things to do in New York, not to mention some of the wonderful children’s retailers that abound in this city. Books of Wonder is aptly named because it brings the books that held such wonder for us as children and gives us the opportunity to share books with our children. They are old and rare books as well as many excellent current book selections. New York is also home to the largest retailer Build-A-Bear in the world, which will be lovers in your family’s eyes light up with joy. There FAO Schwarz, a toy store to itself and almost worth the price of the trip to New York alone. Age and young children will enjoy spending an afternoon here. Toys R Us in Times Square is offering a portion of dinosaur competition however, by brining a great attraction for families in the door and buying toys. Make sure you let the little ones ride the Ferris wheel and you get a copy of the photograph as a souvenir.

New York is gaining a reputation as a much softer side of the family much more focused. Do not let the past reputation of this city from doing this holiday destination with the family might be ideal to be.
