If you are travelling abroad to a country that is relatively nearby such as France, there is a tendency to assume that flying will be the most expensive travel option. However, this is frequently not the case.

When you take into consideration the fuel associated with driving, or the cost of train tickets both in the UK and in France as well as the crossing itself, it often works out cheaper just to hop on a plane. The added bonus is that you can be in your destination in under an hour depending on the part of the country you are going to. When you plan your holiday, speak to someone who has experienced it for themselves like the folk at Freedom Destinations

It is usually best to book direct, but don’t rule out special offers through booking agents working out cheaper.

Choose your accommodation wisely

If you’re not lucky enough to win accommodation in one of our exciting auctions, there are a few other cheap options available to you. Of course, camping is revered for being a cheap way to get away on holiday.

These days, some campsites can be holiday resorts in themselves with pools, bars and restaurants on site. You also have the option of staying in a mobile home or caravan instead of a tent, the Melbourne Roma caravan dealers can provide you with the bets options. If camping isn’t your thing, self-catering accommodation can work out almost as cheaply and have the added bonus of being a real home from home.

The other option for a cheap holiday is to book at the very last minute, making the most of hotels that would prefer to sell the rooms at a heavily discounted rate rather than have empty rooms.

Self-catering or all-inclusive?

As mentioned above, self-catering is a great way to keep costs down whilst on holiday. One of the main expenses that you incur after booking travel and accommodation is the cost of food and drink.

If you have a well equipped kitchen in your holiday apartment, it is very easy to cook nutritious meals for everyone with minimal effort. It may seem counter-productive, but going all-inclusive can also reduce your costs. Whilst you pay a little more for the holiday as a whole, you don’t need to fork out anything extra for food and drink on arrival. This means that you could literally go on holiday with $100 in your wallet and still come home with some change.

The Holiday Bid Game offer customers the chance to win holidays and holiday related items in lowest unique bid online auctions. They also provide news and destination tips as well as information on how to win.
