Delhi Travel Tips. It is always believed that if someone wants to explore a country within a short span of time, start with their capital city. Same goes for a country as big as India because visiting Delhi means having the feel of the whole of India. Even if the tour consists of many days the best place to begin the adventure in India is Delhi.

The famous Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi was rated as the fourth best in the world in 2010. It hosts both business travellers and many tourists throughout the year who come to India from all over the world. Being a top tourist destination, airlines from all corners of the world are operating many cheap flights to Delhi.

Around 25 to 40 million travellers come here every year and even in these recession days the traveller’s flow is not dropping as many cheap flights to Delhi are operating with their planes fully occupied with the passengers.

This is one of the rare cities that make the tourist overjoyed and gives them the feeling of getting complete value for money. As a result, even an expensive flight to Delhi will seem like cheap flights Delhi.

Delhi, which is located over the banks of the River Yamuna has got a long history. Its culture, the famous Mughal architecture and the crowded and traditional bazaars are the identity of this city.

Qutub Minar reflects the Muslim emperor’s era in India and without any doubt it is the tallest minaret built of bricks in the entire world. The Lal Qilah also known as Red Fort is another landmark of the Indian capital. This beautiful building along with the Jama Masjid mosque were built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the 16th century and are both must visit places. The Red Fort has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well.

Not limited to that a visit to Chandni Chowk which is the centre point of Delhi will add more spice to the traveller’s trip. This place reflects the pure culture of the city and is also known for delicious food. Apart from its tradition and architecture, Delhi has also got a reputation of a modern city. The cinemas, coffee shops, gardens and the electrifying night life can entertain anyone.

Recently the city hosted the 2010 Commonwealth games very successfully. To support the event, massive efforts had been carried out to improve the city’s traffic and as a result today all the traffic on the streets are running on CNG operated engines. The biggest fleet of CNG buses is now operating in this city which is only a small step towards making it a pollution free city. Moreover Delhi metro is another convenience that is offered by the local government to its residents. The average ridership on metro is approximately 1.6 million travellers daily.

The India Gate, Connaught Place, Lotus Temple and emperor Humayun’s tomb are just few of the many attractions that provides strong reasons for visiting Delhi. Delhi is all entertaining whether its people, the food, the events or the buildings.
