Why You Should Hire A Mini Bus On Vacation

March 13, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Mini bus hire may easily be equally as simple to set up as car hire, and there are a variety of vehicle choices and models to pick from. Several mini buses are going to take six passengers, some seven as well as eight travelers, as well as up to nine passengers for the large vehicles. This should make the charge inexpensive, if a large amount of you need to journey by mini bus from your airport to your desired destination, when you’re just going around Australia we recommend bus hire Sydney. Although they will not be sleepers, they can give you that special convenience in addition to room or space should you decide to travel any sort of long distances. Click here to know about the auto transporters.

The expense of various cabs can be very costly in comparison to mini bus hire. A taxi can only get up to 4 men or women because of the actual driver having a chair also. Also, it is helpful to contain a greater vehicle whenever you’ve arrived at ones holiday location. According to my review here, I suggest Rockstarz Limousine & Party Bus rental service. They provide professionally cleaned and maintained by certified technicians party buses.

Whenever you are placing your order for your mini bus hire you simply must evaluate the numbers of seats you may want, and even take into consideration that you will in addition need enough room inside the bus, for the family baggage. The more folks there are within the vehicle will certainly leave you less room for any travel luggage, because the mini bus can have little or no room in the rear. A mini bus has no a trunk as such and thus you must prepare keeping that in mind plus choose the most suitable size and type for your needs.

When you’ve determined your vehicle any driving is not hard, although that they are bigger than your everyday vehicle, as the mini buses offered are all modern-day vehicles they each have the requirements you’d desire found in a mini bus. Power steering, automatic availability, having plenty of visibility together with air conditioning to name a few of the usual needs.

It truly is enjoyable to hire a mini bus as a whole change from a person’s traditional automobile, as well as truly being helpful with regard to an individual’s needs. They have become so in demand during the recent 10 years and happen to be in great demand from customers, since much more men or women take there extended families along with them on holiday, for that reason scheduling your mini bus in advance is encouraged. You should never leave rental to the very last moment. You can usually leave reserving car hire to a short before you would need it, but a mini bus should probably be booked as soon as possible, before you will be needing it to refrain from disappointment. Building in Ancient Hawaii – From Tiki Huts to Temples

March 13, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Though the tiki hut bar is a relatively modern invention, its architecural roots can be traced back to ancient Hawaii. For centuries, traditional Hawaiian structures had thatched roofs made of pili grass. Often, a large fishing net covered the grass to keep it in place.

What is a  Hale Ali’i

The most important building in ancient Hawaiian civilization was the home of the chief. The Hale Ali’i could be found on a hill, with a stone foundation to symbolize the chief’s high standing within the community. The interior of the hale ali’i was covered with leaves, and the floor with woven mats. Nearby, stood the Hale Papa’a, serving as a storage room, where the chief kept his most valuable possessions. In this home, the chief (or Ali’i) would hold meetings. Women and children could not enter this building.

The Hale Ali’i was not the only building to exemplify the ancient Hawaiian system of taboos, or kapu. In the Hale Mua, or men’s eating house, women and children were not allowed to enter or eat. Instead, women and children ate at the hale ‘aina, a separate building.

Many ancient Hawaiian structures held cultural importance. The Halau, or house of instruction, was a place of instruction, where young native Hawaiians learned the art of the hula and other aspects of Hawaiian culture like house selling advice. In the Hale Pahu, or drum house, drums and other instruments needed for hula dances were stored. In the Hale Ulana, or weaving house, women created mats, baskets, fans, and other items from dried leaves woven delicately together. Near the water, the Hale Wa’a, or canoe house, held canoes made from koa wood, or tropical mahogany. Closest to the shoreline, the Hale Lawai’a:, or fishing house, provided space for fishermen to prepare their gear and nets.

While the chief lived in the Hale Ali’i, other Hawaiians lived in a much more modest “Hale Noho.” In this house, extended family members slept in a specific order under one roof. The traditional beds used by Hawaiians consisted of dried grass and leaves spread on the earth Mats places over the grass completed the bed.

Other Hawaii Temples

Besides these daily living spaces, the ancient Hawaiian village also had several temples, as the ancient Hawaiian culture and religion focused on honoring the gods. Various temples were built for the gods of war, peace, health, fishing, farming, or other attributes. The heiau, or temple, might range from a simple structure to an enclosed complex or open-air temple. Only chiefs and kahuna (priests) were allowed to enter most heiau. Today, there are still a few heaiu on the islands, including several on the Big Island of Hawaii. Carved figures, including the famous tiki, adorn each temple. The chiefs and kahuna draw divine power (or mana) from the temples.

If you visit Hawaii, making a trip to historic ruins is a must-see. Just a few of these structures still exist today, and visitors must be very cautious when visiting them. Though they have endured thousands of years, the structures themselves are quite fragile.

Royal Tiki’s beautiful range of Tiki are hand-carved on the Hawaiian island of O’ahu. Also check for current specials on a Tiki hut mask

And the best view of Hong Kong Island skyline is from the Kowloon waterfront – the Avenue of Stars at Tsim Sha Tsui.

Avenue of the Stars is the local version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame and celebrates the movie stars of Hong Kong cinema. It is located on Kowloon’s seaside promenade and offers fantastic views, day and night, of the Hong Kong skyline and Victoria Harbour. The Avenue can be reached from the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station or the Star Ferry terminal.

A Symphony of Lights (best viewed from the Avenue of the Stars) is a spectacular light and laser show, from more than 40 buildings on both sides of Victoria Harbour, synchronized to music and staged every night at 8:00pm. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the light show is in English. Other nights it is in Mandarin or Cantonese. Spectators can tune their radios to FM103.4MHz for English (FM106.8 for Cantonese or FM107.9 for Mandarin). During one of Hong Kong’s many festivals there may also be spectacular fireworks (esp. Chinese New Year).

Victoria Peak – Enjoy the fantastic view of Hong Kong from the lookout on Victoria Peak. The view encompasses Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and Victoria Harbour and is excellent viewing day and night. Reasons to visit Greece for the summer

March 13, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

by John Keyin Travel / Travel Tips    (submitted 2011-03-13)

The weather around the world is getting pretty wild with all sorts of freak weather conditions in Asia, Australia and America, not to mention the arctic conditions in the UK of late. So if your looking to escape these nasty weather conditions then try visiting the islands of Greece.

In Greece they have around 200 days of sun a year and the temperatures rarely fall below 15 degrees centigrade and at the height of the summer you can expect temperatures to soar into the late 30s. The amount of sunshine in Greece is one very good reason to visit and of course returning home with a golden tan to make your friends green with envy is always another.

The history of every island in Greece is unique and you can expect to see something different depending on where you go. For example on the island of rete you have Knossos Palace the seat of King Minos and the Minoan civilization. You have the island of Spinalonga with its haunting past as a leper colony and before that a stronghold that kept pirates at bay for years.

In Rhodes you have Rodini park which is believed to be the first ever nature reserve in the world. Not only that but you have the remains of the Lindos Acropolis which sits proudly overlooking Lindos bay. You have the archaeological sites in Rhodes town which include yet another Acropolis and of course the castle from the crusades.

In Athens itself you have the Acropolis and Parthenon which dominate the skyline and are some of the most visited and photographed sights in the world. There is the temple of Poseidon which is a favourite spot to watch the sunset for locals and tourists alike.A must for most tourists from all over the world is Delphi in Greece and its oracle which was one of the most sacred place in Ancient Greece.

For beaches in Greece you are spoilt for choice with the stunning Smugglers cove in Zante or Zakynthos which is one of the most photographed beaches in the entire world and appears on calendars and postcards all over the island. Crete has some amazing beaches from the pink sands of Elafonisi to the palm covered beaches of Vai on the eastern side of the island.

Visit Rhodes and you will want to visit the remote but beautiful bay of Tsambika where many a cruise ship will stop to lets its guests enjoy the warm seas and lush sandy beach of Tsambika.

The scenery of the Greek islands is something unique to Greece, with rolling rugged hills with patchworks of vineyards, olive groves and citrus groves. The mountainous regions of Greece and the Greek islands are some of the best places to hike and cycle in Europe.

If swimming is more your sort of thing then the underwater life of Greece is amazing especially off the island of Crete with many a shipwreck and downed fighter plane from the WWII Battle of Crete to swim around with some colourful fish species. You also have the Carretta Carretta turtles of Zante to swim with if your lucky as they live and nest around the island during the summer months.

The food of the Greek islands and Greece as a whole is again something you must experience and the dishes remain unique from island to island. Some of our favourites are Lamb Kleftiko, Moussaka, Gyros pita and Cheese Saganaki. Most foods are fresh from the field or the sea and always cooked in healthy fresh olive oils with vegetables grown locally and sourced fresh that day.

There are many other reasons to visit Greece and its wonderful islands but I hope this serves as a small inspiration to get you booking those holidays for the summer.

Bangkok Street Life

March 13, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Though it’s between two major avenues, Rama IV Road and Sukhumvit Road (and is only a block from rama IV Road), it’s an entirely different world from that found along the capital’s major arteries.

The streetlife in Bangkok is vibrant just about everywhere, but especially in the out-of-the-way places, where people get to know each other. In my small area, there is an amazing number of sidewalk vendors selling just about everything, beauty shops, Mom-‘n-Pop “doo-dad” shops, so selling food and drinks, others selling other stuff, even tailor shops. And the occasional actual sit-down, indoor restaurant. There’s even a 7-Eleven nestled in the soi that does a brisk business!

The biggest draw is the people. I live in a tiny quadrangle made up of two condo buildings facing each other in one direction, and a private residence and another condo building facing each other in the other direction. The area in the middle is actually a car park, but functions for all the world as a village square. As I write in mid-afternoon, there are countless small children playing and laughing, and various residents outside visiting each other. Sometimes I go out when an ice cream vendor comes inside our little square — more to buy treats for one of my neighbor’s little boys than for myself. Almost daily, another neighbor’s little girl will come to my door and stand quietly until I notice her. Once she has my attention, she smales, wais me, (To wai is to greet someone by placing your hands in front of your face by your chin and nose, then to nod, or even bow, depending on the perceived different social status — the deeper you wai, the more respect you show.) She is absolutely fascinated by my computer, and loves to come in and quietly stand at my side to watch me typing, surfing the Internet — whatever I’m doing at the moment.

And the adults are just as wonderful as the Wee Ones. Virtually everyone smiles at me — Thais are
