Tips For Vacationing With Pets

April 29, 2008 by admin Leave a Comment

Many pet owners prefer to take their pets with them when they go on vacation. It saves money on boarding fees and allows the family pet to take part in the family vacation. Before you head out the door for your vacation with your pet, there are some things that you should do to be sure that your travel plans go off without a hitch.

If you are going to be traveling long distances in a car, be sure that you have made plans for regular stops along the way. You can also look into the anxiety collars for your pet, so that they can be calm during the ride. Depending on how your pet travels in cars, it could be somewhat difficult to make the journey with a dog and that should be considered before you pack up and leave home.

When making reservations for your hotel, be sure that the accommodations are pet friendly. Some hotels are very strict about the animals that they allow in their establishment and some do not allow them at all. Learn the rules before you book your room to be sure that your pet will be comfortable and welcome when you check in.

Contact law enforcement at your destination to inquire about local laws that they may have regarding pets. There may be certain vaccinations or licenses that they will need to have to be out and about in the area you choose to vacation.

Be prepared by having everything that your pet is used to having at home, with you on your trip. Pack their food and water bowls, a couple toys, leash and anything else that your pet relies on at home. The more comfortable your pet is while on vacation, the less you are going to have to worry about comforting them – the more fun you can have together.

Do not neglect to bring a pet carrier or kennel with you, so you can leave them in the hotel room when you go out for dinner and leave them in the room alone. You may have a pet that is well behaved, but when they are in a new place all by themselves, they may get destructive and end up costing you money to replace what they destroy.

If your dog has a history of being snippy toward other pets or people, be sure to take a muzzle along with you. You do not want to have the dog bite anyone else’s dog while you have it out of the hotel to go relieve himself.

Never allow your dog to get off of the leash. You do not want your dog to get lost in an unknown city. It will be very difficult for them to find you and they are not going to be able to find their way home from where you are. Granted, there have been some incredible stories of pets making their way home from vacation locations, but you do not want to take this risk.

It can be very fun to include your pet in the family vacation, but the proper steps must be taken to ensure you have the most fun possible.

Tips for Traveling Smoothly

April 28, 2008 by admin Leave a Comment

Traveling is supposed to be fun and exciting, so you want your trip to go as smoothly as possible. These tips can help you plan a smooth, fun, exciting trip.

Before hopping in the car to go to the airport, start your road trip, or get on the bus, double check to make sure you have all the documents you need. Check and make sure you have your passport (if you need it), your identification, travel tickets, itinerary, and notes about hotel reservations. If you have pre-paid for events, make sure you also have those tickets or information with you.

Once you are all packed and ready to go, take a few minutes to give your luggage a once-over. Make sure you have packed everything you need and have not packed any prohibited items. If you usually keep a concealed weapon in your backpack and you are flying, now is the time to take it out and put it in your gun safe. A TSA security checkpoint is not the best place to learn that you forgot to leave your handgun at home!

Only pack what you absolutely need. You are going to be lugging your baggage around quite a bit, so the fewer bags you take, the better. When packing, evaluate each item you put in your bags and decide if you really need it or simply want it. Also, if you are traveling abroad, find out if your electrical devices are compatible. There is no sense bringing a hair dryer if you will not be able to use it on your trip.

Go to the TSA website before leaving on your trip. Pay attention to all of the regulations, and do this each time you travel. TSA often changes and updates regulations, so you need to make sure that you have the most current information available. Know what items are not permitted in checked and carry-on bags. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to make pat-downs easier.

Ask a friend to travel with you. Traveling with others is much more fun than traveling alone, and there is safety in numbers. Coordinate with your friend so you can be seated together on flights and either share a motel room or reserve adjoining rooms. If you are traveling alone, make sure that someone at home knows your itinerary. If your plans change, let your friends know.

Keep a positive, optimistic attitude. Traveling can be stressful and it is easy to get irritated when there are delays. Also, other people can just get on your nerves. Relax, take it easy. Having a positive attitude will help you get through frustrating situations more easily. You can enjoy yourself a lot more if you have a sense of humor about problems. If you find yourself getting upset, take a couple deep breaths. Remind yourself that “this too shall pass”, and laugh.

Use these tips to make your next vacation go smoothly. Avoid stress and worry by planning ahead and doing your research. Also, traveling with friends is more fun than traveling alone!

Tips For Travel Outside The Country

April 27, 2008 by admin Leave a Comment

Going on a trip outside of the country can be an amazing adventure. There are many strange and wonderful sights to see and people to meet. But if you do not plan for your trip properly, you can be setting yourself up for disaster. Not only could you find yourself in a position where you do not want to be, but you could end up getting hurt or incarcerated for not understanding the local customs. Using the tips in this article, you will be able to travel outside your country worry-free.

Before you leave on your trip, familiarize yourself with the countries that you are going to visit. There are many excellent guide books available at your local library that have information on any country that you plan to visit. Read up and understand their local customs, their language, and their laws. There are many rules and customs in other countries that you may be unfamiliar with, and if you do not obey their local customs, you could land up in jail for something that is perfectly acceptable in your own country. These books will give you lots of helpful information that will guide you through every aspect of their culture, and you might find some excellent places to visit on your trip as well.

It is critical that you make copies of your important documents before you leave. Copy your passport, any visas, and your travel itinerary and leave one at home and take a copy with you. The copy that you leave at home will be helpful for your family or friends to know where you are supposed to be and will have your information if for some reason they need it. The other copy is for you to carry around with you when you are out. Leave your passport and other documents locked in the hotel safe and carry the copy around with you so that if they are lost or stolen, you have the originals back at the hotel.

It is a good idea to check with the State Department before you leave to see if there are any travel advisories regarding the countries that you are going to travel to. On occasion there is turmoil in countries that you are planning to visit, and the State Department will issue advisories on where to travel and where you should not go. If there is an advisory on the country that you are planning to travel to, you should seriously reconsider your trip, or at least take the proper precautions before you travel.

Lastly, there are areas of the world that have diseases that you need to be immunized against prior to visiting. Visit your doctor and get the necessary shots and any medications that you may need before you go. Some things like dysentery, you cannot be immunized against, but there are others that you can. Avoid drinking water from the tap, fruits that do not have skin that can be removed, and generally anything that has been washed in local tap water to protect yourself against dysentery.

Go out and explore all that the world has to offer, but be safe. Use the tips from this article to help you in your travels outside the country.

Tips for Traveling as a Family

April 26, 2008 by admin Leave a Comment

It is often very nice to have children around. Their free-spirited nature and natural curiosity make for a very fun and enjoyable time. While this is true, children can make things very stressful when you are traveling. The planning stage, packing and the actual trip can become a nuisance if your children are not behaving well or you are not feeling well. Utilize the tips here to keep everyone happy while you are on a family trip.

If you are traveling with children in the summer, it can be very bothersome. High temperatures are nice for some people, but it makes a lot of children feel very cranky. You do not want to have to worry about any part of your trip being ruined by a child with a bad attitude. While a lot of places will have air conditioning units, there are some that will not and you will have to plan ahead. You should bring a spritz bottle with you so that you or your child can spray cool water on them when it gets too unbearable.

While you may have some great activities planned for your trip, there is always downtime, which includes the amount of time it takes to get to your destination. These times can make children very restless, and they will want something to do. When you pack for trips with children you cannot forget to bring them some fun things to do. Books, magazines, travel-sized games and portable video game systems are all things that you should consider bringing with you.

One thing to keep in mind when dealing with children is the fact that it can be very stressful. You have to have patience or you can lose your cool, and that would not be a good thing. You should pack a bag and keep some of your favorite things in it. This bag can include anything from your favorite candy to one of your favorite crossword puzzle books. Once the children are relaxing and well-behaved, you can take the time to do a little relaxing yourself. This will keep you in a mellow mood so that you will be prepared for the next day.

You do not want to reward children that are not behaving well, but sometimes you have to find a way to get them in a better mood. You should bring a toy or game that your child has never seen before. This gives you something to pull out when they begin to get impatient or upset. Let them know that they are only allowed to use this item on the condition that they stay well-behaved. Do not hesitate to take it away if their attitude does not improve.

Going on a trip with the family is fun, and it is a great way to create some memories for you and the children. Make sure that you plan far enough ahead so that everything is in perfect order. As stated above, you can use the tips here to keep everyone in the family happy.

Maui Babe suntan enhancer

April 25, 2008 by admin 1 Comment

I ran into this suntan enhancer when we were in Hawaii last month. Maui Babe. Maui babe we should was just some sort of suntan oil and of course it is insane not to be wearing sunscreen while in the strong hawaiian sun.

We were wrong. Maui babe just goes on top of your suntan lotion and enhances your tan, making it darker. I am not sure if it is a dye but it seemed to work well on my wife for the day that she used it. It may be a bit greasy when you put it on but it smooths in and smells OK, actually it smells kind of like coffee so the smell would really depend on whether you like coffee or not.

Maui Babe is sold in all of the ABC stores as well as the WalMart and I would have to bet in all of the other corner stores in Hawaii. It comes in two sizes so you can but the small size and try it out. It is pretty greasy by the way. If you do like the lotion then you can always buy the bigger one.

If you are looking for a suntan enhancer i really have to encourage you to try out Maui Babe.
